Tom Robustelli

TOM ROBUSTELLI President

Tom is a certified public accountant with the firm Robustelli, Rotz, and Soucy in Lewiston. As a neighbor to Thorncrag, just above the East Ave. gate of the sanctuary, he provides an important service to watch over that part of the property. His wife Nancy and both children, Jennifer and Jason, have helped out at the sanctuary over the years. Tom is outdoors as much as possible enjoying fishing, boating, swimming and hiking. Originally from Connecticut, Tom was a radio announcer and newspaper reporter before becoming a CPA.

David Haines

DAVID HAINES, Secretary

David is a Professor of Mathematics at Bates College. He has been a member of the Stanton Bird Club since 1970, served as its president from1989 to1993, and currently serves on the Board of Directors and as secretary of the organization. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Maine School of Science and Mathematics. He has traveled to North and South American to find birds. His sons, Brandon and Justin, are in college and are former Stanton Bird Club Junior Naturalists. David enjoys hiking (especially in his woods in Auburn), kayaking, gardening, wood-working, juggling, and Latin-American literature.

 

LINDA SEAMANS Treasurer

Linda is a Lewiston native (born and raised!), and graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School. She went on to get her Bachelors degree at St. Joseph's college in Standish, ME and married shortly thereafter. She and husband Alan have one son, Dan, who is currently a sophomore at Lisbon High School. She has worked for LLBean for over 20 years in the Finance department, and went back to college to get her MBA several years ago.

"My sister and I have been bird watchers since childhood. I started my "life list" several years ago, with the "snowy owl" as my "favorite" bird. I am getting experienced at identifying birds by song, and have participated in 2 Lewiston/Auburn CBC counts."

 
Tom Hayward

TOM HAYWARD

Tom is the Humanities Reference Librarian and Lecturer in Latin at Bates College. He and his wife Susan have two children, Jamie and Abby who are now out on their own as an electrical engineer and an actor respectively. Tom loves to listen to jazz, does beautiful watercolor paintings when he has time, and always finds time to go bird-watching. Tom is outdoors as much as possible, especially to participate in the last 6 years with the Maine Dragonfly and Damselfly Survey.

 
Jeri Mauer

JERI MAURER,

Jeri is a hospital manager at Central Maine Medical Center and lives with her husband Gary, Co-chair of the Stewardship Committee, in Leeds. Jeri enjoys hiking, gardening, and exploring National Parks. She was a volunteer nature guide for school groups at Thorncrag for 10 years.

 
Dan Marquis

DAN MARQUIS, 2nd Vice President

Dan and his wife of 26 years, Sandy, own and operate Marquis Signs in Lewiston. Their 'kids' are 3 parrots (that talk…) and a cat (that doesn't talk). Dan is a frequent leader for Club field trips because he is an avid and skilled birder, kayaker, and nature photographer. He used to be a drummer in a band for many years and even played once in a nightclub in LasVegas.

 

BRUCE DAMON

Bruce is an Auburn native and has lived in Lewiston for the last 24 years. He and his wife Marcia Baxter have 3 grown children, Kate, Laura and Jon, who were all junior naturalists.

He served on the building committee prior to joining the board. He is a member of the stewardship committee and the Lewiston Planning Board. He owns and operates Damon Mechanical in Auburn .

CARL STRAUB

Carl has recently retired as the Clark A. Griffith Professor of Environmental Studies in Bates College. During his 40 years of teaching in the College, he also served for 18 years as the academic dean. Alongside his professional career, Carl has served as a trustee or board member of many non-profit associations dedicated to protecting the environments and to supporting the arts in public life. This service has included being president of the Maine Audubon Society. He is especially interested in the preservation of land and its wildlife, and in how education and the arts can further such effort.
