Saturday's field trip to Back Cove(BC) and Cape Elizabeth(CE) also included
an unscheduled stop at Grondin Pond(GP) in Scarborough to pick up a couple of
nice birds that were being seen there. We picked up 8 species there that we saw
nowhere else.
Three people (Bonnie Soper, Tom Hayward and Dan Marquis) took
advantage of the pleasant day. Although it was mostly cloudy, it was rather mild
with little or no wind. One interesting observation was a noticable lack of Common
Eiders. Normally found in large rafts, we only saw them in small groups and scattered
individuals
