Saturday's field trip to Back Cove(BC) and Cape Elizabeth(CE) also included an unscheduled stop at Grondin Pond(GP) in Scarborough to pick up a couple of nice birds that were being seen there. We picked up 8 species there that we saw nowhere else.
Three people (Bonnie Soper, Tom Hayward and Dan Marquis) took advantage of the pleasant day. Although it was mostly cloudy, it was rather mild with little or no wind. One interesting observation was a noticable lack of Common Eiders. Normally found in large rafts, we only saw them in small groups and scattered individuals
