This morning six people attended the Stanton walk along the Androscoggin
River in both Lewiston and Auburn. We walked a loop between Railroad
Park in Lewiston and Riverwalk in Auburn. Interestingly, Auburn was
fully plowed but Lewiston was somewhat marginal. The old Grand Trunk RR
bridge was fully cleared and made a very nice walk. The morning started
sunny and there was no wind, again making a very nice walk. Numerous
ducks were seen on the river in very close views. The gulls also were
accommodating. At one point a few ducks quacked then everything was
quiet as a Sharp-shinned Hawk landed in a tree right over our heads.

Birds seen were:
American Black Duck - 2
Mallard - 68
Hooded Merganser - 5 seen very well
Common Merganser - 6 also seen very well
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1
Ring-billed Gull (many)
Herring Gull (a few)
Great Black-backed Gull - 1
Rock Pigeon
Mourning Dove
Blue Jay
American Crow
Black-capped Chickadee
